Financial Reports 1962-1972.

This series comprises financial reports from 1962-1972 for the Lutheran Church in America's (LCA) Board of World Missions (BWM). These printed reports include yearly audits from 1963-1972, summary financial reports published in the convention bulletins for 1966 and 1968, and a 1962 analysis of the financial operations of the foreign mission boards for the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Lutheran Church in America. This last information was to be used in developing a financial system for the BWM. For each type of report, the accounting firm of Tait, Weller & Baker, Certified Public Accountants, Philadelphia-New York, conducted the analysis. The report regarding the creation of a financial system for the BWM includes an analysis of the financial operations of the foreign mission boards of two LCA predecessor churches and specific concepts and proposals regarding various aspects of a financial system, including budgets, investment procedures, bank accounts, fiscal relationships with mission fields, and what type of accounting practices to use. The individual yearly audits include a certificate from the accounting firm certifying that the balance sheet and related statements fairly represent the financial position of the BWM for the audit year; reports for the balance sheet as of December 31 of the audit year; notes to financial statements and supporting schedules to the balance sheet; income and expenditures for the audit year and supporting schedules; and information regarding the operating fund, endowments, funds functioning as permanent funds, and other funds. Summary reports were issued for inclusion in the LCA convention bulletins for 1966 and 1968. These reports are similar to yearly reports, but include figures for each year of the biennium for which the convention is taking place. This series also has the individual reports for 1964-1967. Records are arranged chronologically.
